In Montana, proposed changes to health insurance rates in the small group and individual markets are reviewed by the Office of the Montana State Auditor, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance before they are put into effect. This rate review process helps protect you from unreasonable rate increases.
When filing their rates, insurance companies must publicly justify any rate increase of 10% or more so that you have the opportunity to make comments on the proposed rates.
