National Retirement Planning Week April 13 -17
HELENA, Mont. – With approximately one in four Montanans aged 60 or over, Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance Monica Lindeen urged Montanans to take the reins of their own retirement planning during National Retirement Planning Week, which runs through Friday.
“Retirement comes whether we are ready or not,” Lindeen said. “Planning for it can be daunting, but even minor preparations early can have big impacts down the road.”
National Retirement Planning Week is a national effort to encourage Americans to plan for their financial needs in retirement. The week is sponsored by the National Retirement Planning Coalition, a group comprised of state insurance departments, colleges, regulators and others. The week runs from April 13 – 17.
To help Americans understand what they may need to retire, the group has built a website – www.retireonyourownterms.org – that has retirement planning tools for people at every stage of life.
Retirement planning is especially important in Montana, where U.S. Census Bureau statistics project the population aged 60 and over will top 30 percent by 2030.
