State Auditor James Brown Joins Fellow Statewide Officials at March Land Board Meeting in Approving Over $1.63M in New Revenue for Montana Schools

Auditor James Brown joined his State Land Board colleagues to review and approve multiple projects benefiting the state’s trust beneficiaries and public institutions. The March Land Board meeting highlighted key initiatives generating an estimated $1.63 Million in revenues for the people of Montana.

“As a member of the Montana land board and a native Montanan, I am proud to be able to allocate key funds to our state’s students,” Brown said. “The next generation of Montana deserves a quality education that prepares them to be leaders of this world when it is their time. The state land board allows us to continually pour support into our schools to create high value learning environments.”

They approved the following revenue-generating actions: 

Timber Sales (estimated): $1,093,308 
Oil & Gas Lease Sale: $532,944  

The Board’s actions are estimated to generate $1.63 Million in revenue, directly benefiting Montana’s state trust funds and educational initiatives. 
The Montana Land Board consists of the top five statewide elected officials. The board manages millions of acres of state trust lands, ensuring both financial returns for trust beneficiaries and responsible land stewardship for future generations.
